Leon Harmse, owner and trainer of Fareed Arabians, has been around horses since he was a small boy thus growing a big love and admiration for these magnificent animals. From as young as 10 years of age Leon started competing in endurance riding and achieved a lot of success with his horses that he rode himself and trained for others to compete on. Leon represented the Namibian Heavyweight Endurance team at the African Endurance Championships twice and also trained horses that won the African Championships.


Leon has competed in endurance on two continents, namely Africa and North America.  He has also won national championships with his horses at the Arabian National Championships in Namibia.


Leon has a wide knowledge and experience of training and schooling of endurance horses, show horses and young horses. Throughout his school career he always trained his own horses and then after High School decided to pursue a career in Equine breeding and training. When he finished High School he went to South Africa and worked on a famous Arab breeding and training stud for 3 months from December 2008 to February 2009.  After that he returned to Namibia to work for  a big equine training center for 12 months from February 2009 to February 2010. Then he went to the USA to work and learn from a master horseman family in the Arab and Quarter Horse show industry and attended, as well as worked at some of the biggest Arabian shows in the world namely the U.S Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Scottsdale, Arizona for 12 months from June 2010 to June 2011. Leon returned in June 2011 to establish and expand his business Fareed Arabians & Training Center and is now available to help the Namibian equine community better the quality of horses and help develop the equine industry in Namibia.
